Another dengue-infected patient succumbed to the virus in Islamabad during the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 11. Islamabad District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Zaeem Zia said that seven residents of rural areas and four of urban areas have died so far of the dengue virus.
As many as 148 people got infected by the dengue virus in Islamabad during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of dengue patients to 867 in Islamabad, he added.
He said that 565 patients were admitted to the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) in Rawalpindi, 143 to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), 36 to the Rawalpindi District Headquarters Hospital, 237 to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Science, 104 to Polyclinic Hospital Islamabad, 315 to the Federal General Hospital and 55 patients were admitted to the Capital Development Authority Hospital in the federal capital.
Some 80 new dengue infections were reported in Rawalpindi during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 1,677.
