LAHORE:

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has reiterated that polio-free Pakistan was a mission and the top priority of the government.

The chief minister said that all-out resources were being utilised to ensure a healthy future for the young generation. “The administration has also been activated in the anti-polio campaign along with the health department,” he said.

In his message on World Polio Day, Buzdar said he was personally monitoring the anti-polio drive. He also appealed to the parents to get their children vaccinated against polio.

He termed the war against polio, a war for a better and polio-free future for the nation's children.

The chief minister paid rich tribute to the services of polio workers and said that they were the real heroes and front line workers. “All possible steps will be taken for eradicating polio,” he added.

The chief minister said Islam was the religion of peace and no society allows violent behaviour. He said radical behaviour create chaos in society. He reiterated that the government would discharge its responsibility of maintaining the law and order situation in the province in an effective manner.

While criticising the opposition parties protest, Buzdar termed the rallies a futile and meaningless effort which he said would never be successful.

The chief minister said the opposition should realise the seriousness of the current circumstances and avoid spreading chaos. He condemned the opposition’s attempt of dividing the nation in a critical situation and said the opposition does not care about the people of the country.

“These elements are only putting national interests at stake just to gain political mileage. The current situation demands unity, brotherhood and solidarity from us as there is no room for the politics of the vested interest in the current circumstances,” he remarked.

“The opposition should refrain from spreading anarchy and safeguarding the vested interests.” The CM also expressed grief over the loss of lives in a fire accident at a house in the precinct of Factory Area police station.

The chief minister extended sympathies and condolence with the bereaved family and directed the health officials to provide the best medical treatment to the injured.
