HARIPUR:

The Haripur District Health Officer (DHO) has issued temporary transfer and relocation orders of female and male staffers of the Basic Health Unit (BHU) Julian Khanpur following an alleged assault on a lady health worker (LHW).

The DHO has transferred all male staff to the Garam Thoon Khanpur hospital and all LHWs to the Khanpur tehsil headquarters hospital.

According to sources, Lady Health Officer (LHO) Sidra Bibi had allegedly assaulted and manhandled LHW Nagina Bibi and seriously injured her.

Following the assault, the victim LHW had lodged a complaint with the police, who have registered an FIR and started to probe the matter.

The sources claimed that LHO Sidra Bibi had been running the affairs of the hospital with her own whims while health high-ups kept a deaf year to the issue.

The source said that senior health officials were also looking into the matter and are working to resolve the issue.

The LHWs would be called back to the BHU once the issue is settled amicably, the source said.

Strangled body of young man found

The strangulated body of a young man was found in Marchabad Bagh within the limits of Khanpur Police Station.

The victim was identified as 27-year-old Muhammad Yusuf, a resident of Pind Gakhra Khanpur. Police shifted the body to the tehsil headquarters hospital for medico-legal formalities. Further investigation is under way.

It could not be ascertained if the young man had committed suicide as, according to some unconfirmed reports, he was stated to be mentally unstable.
