Doctors complaint about being harassed on ethnic grounds

The Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) Executive Director Dr Shahid Rasool has alerted the Sindh health department to the harassment of a female doctor in the hospital.

The committee investigating the matter has demanded the health department to form a high-level committee and seek the help of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)'s Cyber Crime Circle in the investigation.

On the other hand, Dr Usman Zafar, vice president of the Young Doctors Association (YDA), while terming the allegations leveled by Dr Nazish Butt as baseless, demanded the production of evidence.

Earlier, a meeting of the committee, set up on the matter of harassment of a female doctor, was held at the JPMC. The meeting was attended by JPMC Executive Director Dr Shahid Rasool, committee members, leaders of the JPMC Doctors Association and Dr Nazish Butt.

Dr Rasool assured the leaders of the doctors' association of dispensation of justice. According to the leaders of the doctors' association, consultants, Dr Nazish Butt, Dr Naseer Ahmed and Dr Zafarullah, were being harassed on ethnic grounds.

Dr Nazish has alleged workplace harassment on ethnic grounds. She has said that for months she was being subjected to a character assassination and was ridiculed and accused on social media as well as WhatsApp. Following these allegations Dr Rasool set up an internal committee to investigate the matter.
