Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif launched a pilot project to make the city eco-friendly by planting a sapling to inaugurate the LDA Avenue-1 Central Park covering an area of 87 kanals.

She was informed that innovative steps had been taken in the residential society to protect and beautify the environment and the pilot model park was a step in this direction. A jogging track, walkways, kids’ play area, open gym, badminton court, cafeteria, mosque and rose garden are parts of the park.

Solar street lights have been installed on the walkways and vending points set up for food items.

A model cemetery has been built in the society.

The chief minister was informed that the LDA Enforcement Squad is being supplied new uniform, equipment and machinery.

She visited the vending points where fruits and vegetables were for sale on newly designed carts. “It's a good arrangement, but I will come and check it again sometime,” she said.
