KARACHI:

A prayer leader was shot dead as he led the Fajir congregation at a mosque in the Ayub Goth area of New Karachi early on Tuesday morning.

The unidentified assailant shot Wayalbud Khan twice in the back as everyone was busy in the prayers at Jamia Muhammadi Mosque and escaped during the ensuing panic.

Khan, a local of the Karak district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, was allegedly killed over a personal feud.

As soon as the incident was reported, the police rushed to the spot and after gathering evidence from the spot, shifted the body to the hospital. Police said it would be too early to comment on the incident without an investigation. "However, preliminary investigations suggest that the incident was a result of a personal feud," said an official of the Sohra Goth Police Station.
