Rawalpindi to have third women university soon
The Punjab government gave final approval to set up a third women’s university in Rawalpindi. The Punjab governor will issue a notification for the establishment of the new women’s university soon.
The city’s 50-year-old historic Girls Government Waqar Nisa Postgraduate College was given the status of a new university. An initial fund of Rs25 million has also been allocated for the institution, which will be transferred to the university’s account after the issuance of a notification
The current principal of the college will be the first Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the new university. Confirming on contact, it was revealed Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Bazdar would come to Rawalpindi in the coming days to inaugurate the new university.

There were already two women universities in Rawalpindi: Fatima Jinnah Women’s University; and Government Women’s University Satellite Town.
