ISLAMABAD:

Prime Minister Imran Khan directed on Friday to ensure that special care facilities were being provided to needy people seeking refuge in Panahgahs (shelter-homes).

The directive came during the premier’s meeting with Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Dr Sania Nishtar.

Managing Director Baitul Maal Malik Zaheer Abbas Khokhar was also present at the meeting.  Dr Sania briefed the PM on the details about the progress made so far on the new ‘Model Pangahs’.

PM Imran said the staff at the shelter homes was being trained at par with the international standards, adding that Ehsaas ‘one-window centres’ were also being established alongside the Panagahs to give the needy people easy access to facilities.

During the meeting, the premier was told that while the formulation of a central advisory board for the shelter homes had been already completed, the formation of a four-member board for every Panagah was also underway.

The PM was given a rundown on the improvements and fresh measures were underway, including the installation of a digital monitoring system for every Panagah within a week.  he was apprised of the identification of land for the construction of specific buildings for four shelter homes.

The prime minister while expressing his satisfaction over the progress of Panagahs directed to ensure their completion within the stipulated time.
