Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General Sana Ullah Abbasi on Monday said that action has been initiated against individuals for generating fake Covid vaccination certificates.
“Steps are being taken as per guidelines of the National Command and Operation Center and over 41 people have been arrested and FIRs have been registered,” he said while addressing a news conference conference.
The move came after "fake entry" of Covid vaccination was found in the government portal under the name of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who left Pakistan for the United Kingdom in Nov 2019 — months before the first case of the virus was even found in the country.
The FIA director general said the people, who got certificates from the people, were under probe by the
FIA and the agency has called many of them and calling others as well.
He said that their vaccination certificates have been cancelled and the FIA has been working with a complete tracking system to trace the people who were committing crime.
Meanwhile, the national tally of active Covid-19 cases on Monday was recorded at 50,651 as 1,757 more people tested positive for the deadly virus and 1,765 people had recovered from the disease during the past 24 hours.
