Highest rainfall of 6mm was recorded in Landhi

Many parts of the city on Monday experienced microbursts following an unusual activity in hot and humid weather during which a chain of rainwater drops was formed in the air rain.

According to meteorologists, in this situation unusual winds blow with torrential rain and a combination of hot and cold winds takes place in the sky.

The rainfall, which started in the city's suburbs including Malir, Landhi, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Gulzar-e-Hijri, Manghopir and Surjani Town, spread to other parts of the city. As a result, Shara-e-Faisal, Boat Basin, North Karachi, New Karachi, Cantt Station, Saddar, I.I. Chundrigar Road and some parts of the Old City area received heavy and moderate rains.

The Met office said, the highest rainfall of 6mm was recorded in Landhi, 4.1mm in Gulshan-e-Maymar, 2.8mm in DHA, 2mm in University Road, 1.5mm in Keamari and 0.8mm in Jinnah Terminal. The rains caused the heat to dissipate and the temperature dropped significantly turning the weather pleasant.

According to Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz, a series of rains may start in the city from Tuesday (today) evening which may record a higher intensity on September 29.
