‘Govt ensuring provision of facilities to citizens’

Minister says development project to be completed at a cost of Rs44 billion

Punjab Minister for Local Government & Community Development (LG&CD) Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed has said that the provincial government is ensuring the provision of basic facilities for the citizens at their doorstep.

“In the first phase of Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Investment programme, development projects are being carried out in Sialkot and Sahiwal at a cost of Rs44 billion.”

He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday.

The delegation was led by Sabir Subhani whereas Waqas Amjad, Zeeshan Siddiqui and other PTI office bearers were also present on the occasion.

He added, “Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar khan, DG Khan, Bahawalpur and Multan will be included in the second phase of the same programme.”

The minister further said that instructions have been issued to expedite development work of various schemes carried out by local government department.

“All legal requirements are being fulfilled for procurement whereas an effective monitoring mechanism has also been developed in this regard.”

He claimed that transparency in the development projects is of utmost importance to the government.
