RAWALPINDI:

A 26-year-old woman was allegedly beaten and poisoned to death by her husband and his two wives in Sahab Dhamyal village on Friday.

The suspect tried to bury the body, but locals foiled his attempt. The victim’s brother, Manzoor Hussain, informed the police that his sister Asma Shaheen married Sajid Mehmood six months ago. The deceased was a divorcee with a 10-year-old daughter and this was her second marriage, while she was the suspect’s third wife.

A man named Qaiser called the complainant and informed him that his sister has passed away.

The victim’s family reached her house and witnessed wound marks on her face. When the body was given the last bath, the victim’s family members saw wound marks all over her body.

The body was shifted to Kalar Syedan tehsil headquarters hospital, where its autopsy was performed. Later, the police handed over the body to the complainant after completing the procedure.

Police said that the victim was foaming from the mouth, which showed that she was given something poisonous to eat. The police have registered a case against the victim’s husband and his two wives.

Meanwhile, a man was shot dead by his in-laws for failing to get his share in inheritance in the jurisdiction of Naseerabad police station.

Sohail Mehmood informed the police that his brother, Junaid Mehmood, was living at the house of his in-laws for the past six months. The complainant said that for the last few days, his brother looked worried and even left his son at his house.

Upon inquiring, the victim told his wife was forcing her to take a share in the inheritance. Junaid informed the complainant that his spouse otherwise wants a divorce and if he would not give it, she threatened him that he would be killed.

On the day of the incident, the victim talked to his son over the telephone, after which the child insisted on meeting his father. Then, the victim and his siblings went to Junaid’s wife’s house but found the door of his room locked. When it was opened, Junaid was lying on the floor in wounded condition.

Upon seeing the victim’s family, the victim’s in-laws started moaning that he has committed suicide.

The victim’s family called the police and shifted Junaid to the hospital. Later they found out that the victim was shot in the chest and head owing to which he died.

The complainant accused the victim’s wife Asia, Aqib, Zubair, and other in-laws of killing his brother over the property share issue. The police have registered a case and started the investigation.
