Two women shot dead over property dispute

The suspect manages to flee from the scene after committing the crime

RAWALPINDI:

A man shot dead his two aunts over a property dispute within the limits of Jatli police station on Wednesday and fled after committing the crime.

According to the police, the suspect, identified as Dilawar, had a dispute with his two aunts over the inherited property. On Wednesday, the suspect entered his aunts’ house, opened fire and escaped. Police, with the help of Rescue 1122, shifted the bodies of the two women to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Gujar Khan for autopsy.

According to the initial reports, both the women, identified as Zahra Bibi, 58, and Shehla Bibi, 55, died because of gunshot wounds and excessive bleeding.

A case of double murder has been registered against Dilawar, said the police, adding that his family members and friends are being interrogated to catch him.

Police said that the forensic laboratory staff had gathered important evidence from the scene and the suspect would be arrested soon.

Married woman raped

Meanwhile, the Rawalpindi police claimed to have arrested a man for allegedly raping a married woman by calling her for a job interview.

The suspect, who was identified as Asif, had called the victim, a resident of Thokar Niaz Baig, Lahore, to Rawalpindi on the pretext of giving her a job.

According to the police, when the woman reached Rawalpindi with her husband and children, Asif called them to Rawalpindi Saddar. The suspect asked the woman’s husband to stay at a place and took the woman to a hotel on Peshawar Road on the pretext of a job interview. The suspect took the woman to a hotel, raped her and fled, the police quoted the woman as saying.

Meanwhile, SP Potohar Tassawar Iqbal said that the culprit, who had fled to Lahore after raping the woman, was arrested and being shifted to Rawalpindi. The police officer said that a challan against the suspect would be presented in the court after the medical examination of the woman and collecting all related evidence.
