Authorities remove illegal cylinders from 27 vehicles

RAWALPINDI:

Authorities concerned on Tuesday launched a crackdown on public transports having illegal LPG cylinders and impounded 31 vehicles.

The regulatory authority also imposed fines on 61 vehicles on the violation and collectively removed cylinders from 27 vehicles.

The regulatory authority also sealed 11 illegal agencies selling LPG cylinders and penalised 44 of them.

The action was taken by the civil defence department (CDD) in different areas of Rawalpindi, including Adiala Road, Chakri Road, Pirwudhai, Gulzar-e-Quaid, and Dhok Syedan Road.

The department submitted all cases about challans and sealing of agencies to related assistant commissioners (ACs).

The ACs also issued notices to the vehicle owners. The CDD has set up pickets at entry and exit points of Rawalpindi district to remove LPG cylinders from public transports and school vans.

The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) secretary has strictly instructed all public transport vehicles to remove LPG cylinders on their own.

CDD District Officer (DO) Talib Hussain said there are around 300 illegal petrol and gas filling stations agencies in the district that have been issued red notices.

The OGRA has imposed a ban on the use of CNG and LPG by all public service vehicles, including school vans, to ensure “safety of public life and property.

It has asked the provincial governments, and operators of filling stations to ensure that vehicles without fitness certificates did not get CNG and LPG
