
The single-day tally of fresh Covid cases plummeted to the lowest level since July 23 as the national positivity ratio remained 4.22%, according to the official data released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Monday.
The NCOC, which serves as the nerve centre of the government’s unified anti-Covid strategy, said in its daily update of the disease that 2,167 more people tested positive for the virus and 2,312 people recovered from the disease during the last 24 hours.
The national tally of active Covid-19 cases declined to 63,724 with 5,065 admitted to various Covid-dedicated health facilities across the country. Among then, the forum said, 4,840 patients were under treatment in critical condition, including 517 on ventilators.

During the past 24 hours, the NCOC said 40 patients, of them 36 in hospitals, including 13 on ventilators, died, pushing up the nationwide fatality toll to 27,246. It added that most of the deaths, 17, occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, followed by 12 in Sindh and 11 in Punjab.
According to the NCOC update, the national caseload of the disease rose to 1,226,008, including 1,135,038 recoveries. The highest number of cases has been registered in Sindh, with a tally of 450,787, followed by 422,790 in Punjab.
