The September 12 local government elections of the Cantonment Board Hyderabad, in which the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan bagged seven out of 10 seats, drew only about one third voters to the polling stations.
According to the final results, some 16,507 out of 48,893 registered voters exercised their right to elect their LG representatives, including 38.89 male and 28.28 female voters.
The MQM-P secured the highest number of votes followed by the Pakistan Peoples Party. The former polled 5,593 votes or 34.22 percent and the latter 3,962 votes or 24.25 per cent.
Interestingly, the three candidates of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Faqir Muhammad, Abdul Rehman Pathan and Kazi Ashhad, who won the September 12 polls were also elected in 2015 LG elections in the CBH. Whereas, only candidate of MQM-P, Abdul Aziz, has been elected for the second consecutive tenure.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's candidates received 2,567 votes or 15.7 per cent. The three parties fielded candidates in all the 10 wards.
All the independent candidates combined were given 1,163 votes or 7.11 per cent of the total votes cast.
Eight candidates of Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) and six of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), both of which contested the CBH elections for the first time, received 5.4 per cent and 5.46 per cent votes, respectively.
