NAB regional board seeks investigation against Durrani

Board recommends filing of reference to the competent authority against officers and officials of SSRF

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Regional Board on Friday recommended conducting investigation against Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani over alleged embezzlement of funds in the MPA Hostel project.

The NAB Regional Board meeting was held at the bureaus Karachi headquarters under the chairmanship of NAB Karachi Director-General Dr Najaf Quli Mirza.

The board meeting was attended by directors of investigation wings and respective combined investigating teams of concerned cases.

The board in its proposals sent to the competent authority recommended converting the inquiry into investigation against Durrani and others on the allegation of embezzlement of funds in project of MPA Hostel at Karachi.

The board recommended filing of reference to the competent authority against officers and officials of Sindh Social Relief Fund (SSRF) and others.

The accused persons including SSRF Chairman Fazalur Rehman and others are involved in misuse of authority, misappropriation and embezzlement of SSRF funds by investing the same in mutual funds. The meeting also recommended converting the inquiry into investigation against officers and officials of Roshan Sindh Solar Programme for embezzlement of funds in the installation of solar lights in rural Sindh.
