CTD thwarts terror bid in Balochistan

Individual arrested and explosives recovered

The Balochistan Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Friday foiled a terror bid in the province and conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) on the outskirts of Quetta.

An individual approaching the provincial capital on a motorbike was intercepted by law enforcement agencies. Explosives and other arms were recovered from his possession, said a CTD spokesperson.

Two hand grenades, 1,580 grams of explosive material, four feet of det-cord and two detonators were recovered.

“An investigation has been launched to arrest remaining members of the network. An FIR has also been lodged police station CTD Quetta,” added the CTD spokesperson

Furthermore, more raids are planned for other areas of Balochistan, said the spokesperson.

Earlier, security forces killed at least two terrorists during an IBO in tribal area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district, said the military in a statement.

“Security forces conducted an IBO in Razmak, North Wazirstan on the reported presence of terrorists. Two terrorists were killed. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from terrorists,” a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
