Southern districts to get sporting facilities

151 projects have been completed so far

Project Director of the Prime Minister 1000 Playground project Murad Ali Mohmand has said that Southern districts would be equipped with contemporary and international standard sporting facilities very soon after the completion of the ongoing sports infrastructures approved by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.

After the completion of the ongoing mega projects of sports development under the aforementioned project, international standard playing facilities will be ensured for the youth of neglected districts in the past.

“As desired by the K-P CM and in the light of the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, good talent would come up in different games and they would soon be in a position to win back name and fame internationally,” Mohamand said, adding that Rs3 billion have been allocated to have playing facilities at the Union Councils and Tehsil level besides taking steps for the timely completion of the nine playing facilities including badminton hall in Tank Sports Complex, Basketball, Volleyball courts construction in Govt High School Gomal Bazar Tank, Kot Hakeem Tank GHS No. 3 Tank, Govt Shaheed Sher Nawaz Centennial Model High School Tank, Ghara Baloch Tank, Open Air Gym in Degree College Tank, Futsal Ground at Station Road, Tank and Upgradation of Tehsil Sports Complex Stadium Tank.

The project director further said projects worth billions of rupees are underway across the province under the 1,000 sports facilities project launched in the light of special instructions of CM Mahmood while 151 projects have been completed so far.

Mohmand also paid a visit along with the PMU team including Engr Paras Ahmad Khan, Engr Umer Shehzad, RSO Anwar Kamal Burki, Deputy Director Amir Rehman Batani and inspected work on various projects.

The team also visited Tank, Lakki Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan and monitored the pace of work. Mohammad informed that work on the Badminton Hall at Law College Gomal University is in final stages which will be completed next month and handed over to RSO.

The team also visited Tank Football Ground where the project was completed at a cost of Rs8.7 million. Inspection was also carried out of the renovation work of Badminton Hall, Lawn Tennis, Basketball Courts and Football Ground at Tank City Stadium and appreciated the work.

On the instructions of the Secretary Sports Abid Majeed and Director General Sports K-P Asfandyar Khan, a complete report would be prepared by the Engineering team about the quality and pace of work.

These initiatives will give full impetus to sports and give opportunities to the players to come forward and save talent from being wasted.
