HYDERABAD:

The lawyer fighting case against a Pakistan Peoples Party MPA to get justice for her slain father, uncle and grandfather has alleged that the MPA attempted to get her killed in a road accident.

However, MPA Sardar Khan Chandio has rejected the accusation of Ume Rubab Chandio saying that his three guards were injured in the accident on the Indus Highway in Dadu district on Saturday, and they had no intention to hurt Rubab.

The accident happened when the vehicles of the MPA and his guards were overtaking Rubab's car. Both of them were returning to Mehar after attending the hearing of the triple murder case in a court in Dadu city. The land cruiser in which Chandio was traveling crossed Rubab's car but the single cabin pickup which was following him hit a sedan parked on the roadside.

The accident's video was recorded both by Rubab and a soldier of the Rangers who were moving ahead of the lawyer's car in a mobile van. The video shows the pickup of Chandio's guards moving close to Rubab's vehicle when it hits the parked car.

The MPA said his three guards, Ghaibi Khan Chandio, Makhan Chandio and Abdul Latif Chandio were injured in the accident. The car, he added, belonged to a Brahmani family living in Sehwan.

The MPA and his associates have been blamed for murder of union council chairman Karamullah Chandio and his two sons Mukhtiar Chandio and Kamil Chandio who were all gunned down outside their house in Dadu on January 17, 2018.

During the hearing on Saturday lawyers of both sides argued in favour of and against indictment of MPA and his associates. The court, however, reserved the order for September 11. At a press conference later in the evening, held in Mehar town, Rubab said her and her family's lives are in danger due to unrelenting threats of from Chandio.

She told the media people that she will lodge FIR of attempted murder over Saturday's incident against the MPA and his men. She added that if the police avoided registering the FIR, she will seek legal remedy or may also resort to protests.
