Man kills ex-wife, commits suicide

MULTAN:

A man allegedly shot dead his wife and committed suicide in the Rashidabad area of Multan.

Police took both the bodies into custody and shifted them to Multan Nishtar Hospital for postmortem. According to the police report, the victim identified as Maria Zahoor was married 10 years ago to Asad Arain, a resident of Mohalla Akhtarabad. The couple had two sons and a daughter.

Reportedly, the relationship between the couple had soured over the past few months.

Around a month and a half ago, Asad divorced Maria over a domestic dispute.

On which Maria left her house and started living at her brother Ali Raza’s house in Rashidabad, Sonawali street.

Reportedly, Maria brought her children with her after the divorce. Ali Raza worked in the office of Multan deputy commissioner. He was present in his office when Asad entered his house with a 30-bore pistol.

The suspect’s wife tried to stop him but the deranged man shot Maria three times with a pistol and killed her. He later shot himself and committed suicide. Upon receiving the information, the police rushed to the spot and took the two bodies into their custody. Police later shifted the deceased victims to Multan Nishtar Hospital for postmortem.

SP City Rao Naeem said that all the evidences had been collected from the spot. Further investigation into the matter was underway, he added.
