Police arrest suspect in a raid at his friend’s house

A man allegedly bludgeoned his wife to death with a big hammer during a domestic spat at their home in the Metroville SITE area on Saturday.

Sources said the body of the deceased, Parveen, 35, was found inside her house in Akbari Mohallah of Mastan Chali within the jurisdiction of SITE-A police station.

The suspect, Abdul Sattar, had managed to escape from the scene. However, he was later arrested in a raid at his friend’s house in the evening, police said.

Police had shifted Parveen’s body to Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital for legal formalities. SITE-A Police Station SHO Zafar Ali Shah said that deceased’s husband, Abdul Sattar, hit his wife’s head with a hammer and bludgeoned her to death before fleeing from the scene.

The SHO further said the relatives of the deceased lady also reached the hospital and statements were being recorded. In the light of their statements, further facts will surface. Police were conducting raids at various places to arrest Sattar.

SHO Shah said Abdul Sattar was arrested in a raid in the Iqbal Market area of Orangi Town. He further said that the accused was giving contradictory statements in the preliminary investigation in which he was also expressing suspicion on the character of his wife. However, police are interrogating the accused, SHO Shah said.
