Security increase comes after assault and harassment of girl in Greater Iqbal Park

Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Director General Zaheer Anwar Jappa has written to the police authorities asking them to increase security in three public parks of Rawalpindi in the wake of the incident of assault and harassment of a young girl in Greater Iqbal Park, Lahore.

The PHA has increased security at three major public parks, namely Allama Iqbal Park, Pothohar Park and Rawal Road Park, in view of the incident of harassment of a girl at a public park in Lahore.

Talking to The Express Tribune, DG PHA Jappa said that the security of the three public parks is being reorganised.

The PHA staff deployed in public parks have been told to keep an eye out for troublemakers and promptly report any unwanted situation to the police and the PHA administration.

A female TikToker along with her companions was allegedly harassed and assaulted by a mob in Lahore’s Greater Iqbal Park on independence day. The victim stated in her complaint lodged with police station she was filming a video near Minar-e-Pakistan on August 14, along with her friends, when a mob of around 400 people attacked them.
