Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor to star in 'Riverdale' Bollywood remake

Helmed by Zoya Akhtar, the film will reportedly mark as a debut for Shah Rukh Khan and Boney Kapoor’s younger daughter

In 2018, news of the famous Archie Comics partnering with Graphic India for the first-ever live-action Bollywood film based on the characters from the comic series made headlines. Since then, there had been little to no development in the story. However, recently, rumours of the cast being finalised have been making rounds.

Rumour has it that Archie's Bollywood remake will apparently cast star kids Suhana Khan and Khushi Kapoor as Betty and Veronica respectively reported Bollywood Hungama. Helmed by Zoya Akhtar, the film will reportedly mark as a debut for Shah Rukh Khan and ace Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor’s younger daughter.

It has been constant speculation on when these two star-daughters will be launched in Bollywood, and by whom. We finally have an answer. Earlier, it was reported that filmmaker Karan Johar was very keen to launch both Suhana (whom he treats like his own daughter) and Khushi (whose elder sister Janhvi, Karan had launched in Dhadak). However, it is now said that the Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara director will be launching the star kids.

Another detail to have been widely shared would be the apparent casting of Archie in the film. It has been reported that former Bollywood couple Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's son Ibrahim Ali Khan will be essaying the popular character. However, no confirmation of the same has been announced yet.

The Bollywood film will “reimagine the classic characters like Archie, Betty, Veronica, Reggie, Moose and Jughead as Indians and will feature all the classic elements of the hugely popular comic book series,” Variety had previously announced.

“We are supremely excited to partner with the great team at Graphic India to bring Archie and his friends to Bollywood,” said Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater. “Archie’s lasting and growing presence in India made this move the logical next step as our stellar library of characters continues to expand into other media.”

Graphic India CEO Sharad Devarajan added that “Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead have been a source of inspiration for numerous Bollywood films over the years, and now it’s time to take them fully into Bollywood in an exciting new twist of a story that we have planned.”
