Mini mobile hospital on stand by

RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi administration has set up a mini mobile hospital at Committee Chowk for the mourners participating in the Youm-e-Ashura procession.

The citizens can also get themselves vaccinated against coronavirus from the mobile unit which is also equipped with facilities for emergency operations. The facilities include ultrasound, ECG, X-ray, blood test as well as three beds.

The number of beds can be increased to five in case of an emergency while the mini-hospital has a staff of 13, including a female doctor and an X-ray expert.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Dr Abida Habib said that it is a complete mini-hospital and all facilities of emergency and related medicines are available there while the treatment is completely free. She maintained that the mobile unit has all kinds of OPD facilities to deal with any untoward incident.

Mini mobile hospital in-charge Dr Zulfiqar Ali said that the health ministry provided the facility to Rawalpindi in 2020. Since then, he added, they have treated 30,000 patients including the emergency cases and administration of the Covid-19 vaccine to 6,000 people from June 1 until now.

The in-charge said they will remain at Committee Chowk on Murree Road on Youm-e-Ashura until 11 pm to facilitate the mourners. He added that the staff would remain alert to treat every kind of patient.

Dr Ali maintained that the facility has been built in a container in a hardworking and professional manner while its ambience is also like any hospital. He added that the mini-hospital is fully air-conditioned and has security guards as well.

Citizens present at the facility hailed the measure by the health ministry. They said that the casualties can be treated at the mini hospital in case of any untoward incident instead of taking them to a hospital.
