An MA student was killed while three others were injured in an attack in Bahauddin Zakaria University on Saturday.
The injured were shifted to Nishtar Hospital by Rescue 1122, while the police arrested the suspected attacker.
According to police, the suspect named Owais Jutt stabbed Kaleemullah Saho, Qadeer, Sharjeel and Zulfiqar who were sitting in Ayub Canteen in Omar Hall.
As a result, Kaleemullah succumbed to his injuries on the spot, while the other three injured were shifted to Nishtar Hospital.
It was reported that personal resentment was going on between the victims and the suspect since their school days.
Two days ago, a video of Jutt intoxicated with the Ice drug went viral on social media.
It is said that the slain Kaleemullah and other injured belonged to a students’ group and had demanded action against the suspect.
According to SSP Investigation Amir Khan Niazi, the suspect was arrested by the police.
An investigation was under way and all facts would come to light soon, he added. In June, at least four students of Government Science College Wahdat Road were injured in a clash between two groups in Lahore.
In a video message, a student claimed that some suspects were involved in harassing and torturing students. They detained and tortured students for no reason and harassed them through their alleged links in the police and administration, he alleged.
A clash erupted over the video, in which four students were injured. DSP Iqbal Town Mustehsin Shah said it was a dispute between the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT) and hostel residents.
An FIR was registered in this regard.
Replying to a question, Shah said the record of the Jinnah Hospital where the injured students were shifted did not mention any death.
Government Science College Wahdat Road is situated next to Punjab University.
A few days earlier, the university administration had arrested a student trying to enter the university with over three dozen bottles of liquor.
He reportedly revealed during investigations that he was smuggling the bottles to a leader of a student group.
