157,000 sq ft flag painted on Khyber Pass hill

A local welfare organization of Khyber tribal district has painted a large Pakistani flag on a mountain in Neki Khel, Khyber Pass to mark the country’s independence day.

The flag has been painted by dozens of volunteers on the Neki Khel mountain in the famous Khyber-Pass which is visible to the people traveling on Pak-Afghan highway.

Each year the organization tries to celebrate the independence day in a unique way. Last year, they prepared a 3000-pound birthday cake. And a year earlier, they had made a flag which was three kilometer long.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Chairman Zargay Pakistan Shakir Afridi said that they were trying to celebrate the country’s independence day in a unique manner for the past ten years because the tribesmen were more enthusiastic and patriotic people than the rest of the country and these steps were just a small proof.
