LAHORE:

Punjab Traffic Police DIG has sought permission to wear T-shirts as part of wardens’ uniforms during the summer.

In a letter to Punjab inspector general of police (IGP) titled ‘Approval for a shirt in summer with reference of Pakistan citizen portal’, he stated that a complaint received through Prime Minister's Performance Delivery Unit (PMDU) lodged by anonymous traffic wardens contended that they performed duty in the scorching heat of summer.

Whereas operational (executive) police had been allowed to wear T-shirts as part of their uniform in summer and traffic police were not allowed to wear T-shirts as part of their uniform.

The DIG also proposed the specification for T-shirts for traffic police. He suggested a T-shirt of blue-grey colour, with badge of Pakistan Flag embroidered and Punjab Police logo affixed on the left sleeve.

The nameplate may be placed on the right side, it stated. Ranks and badges shall be worn on the placket.

Moreover. the General Executive Branch. Elite Police. PHP and SPU personnel were already using T-shirts during the summer season in place of long sleeve shirts, the DIG pleaded before the IGP.
