The police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested the prime suspect involved in the killing of Jamat-e-Islami leader's son.
According to West SSP Suhai Aziz, acting on a tip-off the Mangopir Police carried out a raid at a house near Farsi Ground and arrested the suspect, identified as Mujahid Masood. The police claimed to have found the murder weapon - a 9mm pistol - and Rs5,000 cash in the suspect's possession.
The police said that Masood confessed during interrogation to opening fire at the shop owned my JI nazim Muhammad Ishaq with an intention to kill him. Ishaq's son, Muhammad Ali, was killed in the attack instead.

The case was lodged at Manghopir Police Station under Section 302 [pertaining to murder] and other sections of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The police added that further interrogation was underway to determine the motive behind the attempted killing. Besides, the confiscated weapon has been sent for ballistic testing and the search for accomplices of the suspect is underway.
