Nine die in Punjab road crashes

The majority of victims, around 66%, involved motorcycles

At least nine people were killed whereas 1,088 were injured in 1,018 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 36 districts of Punjab during the past 24 hours.

Out of the total injured, 650 victims were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals whereas, 438 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site. The majority of victims, around 66%, involved motorcycles.

Furthermore, the analysis showed that 476 drivers, 56 underage drivers, 113 pedestrians, and 508 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes. The statistics show that 259 RTCs were reported in Lahore, which affected 274 persons, placing the provincial capital at the top of the list, followed by 79 RTCs in Faisalabad with 89 victims and Gujranwala at third with 68 RTCs and 68 victims.

The details further revealed that 1,097 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 890 male & 207 female victims. The age group of the victims showed that 205 were under 18 years of age, 606 victims were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 286 victims were reported above 40 years of age. According to the data, 856 motorcycles, 152 auto rickshaws, 106 motorcars, 30 vans, five passenger buses, 32 trucks and 128 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
