SHC sets up legal research cell

The cell is linked to the Artificial Intelligence Net and eight judges were appointed to the body.

KARACHI:

In a major step towards dispensing speedy justice in cases, a legal research cell was set up at the Sindh High Court.

Sindh High Court Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M Sheikh inaugurated the cell which would provide assistance to the judges by making available on a single click the relevant cases, judgments, precedents, and clauses of various nature.

The legal research cell is linked to the Artificial Intelligence Net and eight judges were appointed to the body.

The inaugural function was attended by Justice Irfan Saadat Khan, Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui, Justice Junaid Ghaffar, members of the cell and IT officials. The Legal Research Cell was formed in collaboration with the IT Department of the Sindh High Court.

Meanwhile, two judges of SHC, including Justice Faheem Ahmed Siddiqui and Justice Nazar Akbar retired on Saturday.

Justice Akbar was appointed on August 31, 2013 and Justice Siddiqui on November 30, 2016.

The court has a total of 42 posts for judges from which 10 are still vacant.
