DIR LOWER:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has taken notice of the bad law and order situation and robbing of minority community tourists in Malakand and ordered the removal of District Police Officer (DPO) and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dir Lower immediately.

A day ago unidentified men robbed a bus at gunpoint which was taking 44 students to the tourists spot of Kumrat, Dir Upper. These students hailed from Sindh and Punjab.

These students later told the police that the robbers were wearing police caps who stopped their vehicle and took away mobile phones, cash and other valuables at gunpoint.

“The incident took place in Osakai, Dir Lower on Chitral GT Road when the bus was on its way to Kumrat, Dir Upper,” said a policeman, adding that the victims reached the police and they compensated their losses but the news of the broad daylight robbery spread like wildfire.

“We were not only provided with money but police also arranged breakfast for us and provided a police escort to Kumrat,” said one of the students, adding that they were happy despite this unpleasant incident.
