Sindh confirms over 2,300 Covid infections

Another 28 people succumb to the pandemic

KARACHI:

Sindh reported over 2,300 coronavirus infections and 29 fatalities on Thursday. According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's House, 2,315 new cases were diagnosed when 16,953 samples were tested for the contagion.

Another 992 persons also recovered from the infection overnight, said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, bringing the number of recoveries in the province thus far to 340,371. The provincial tally of confirmed cases and pandemic death toll rose to 394,731 and 6,126 with the recent cases, added Shah.

There are at least 48,234 active coronavirus patients in Sindh, said the CM. Of them, 46,693 are in home isolation, 40 at isolation centres and 1,501 at different hospitals, he said, adding that the condition of 1,319 patients is critical. At least 99 of the critical patients were on ventilators.

Of the 2,315 new cases, 1,667 were detected in Karachi.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad reported 121 new cases, Badin 86, Thatta 58, Tharparkar 50, Mirpurkhas 48, Dadu 42, Sanghar 41, Naushero Feroze 27, Umerkot 25, Tando Muhammad Khan 20, Khairpur 19, Shaheed Benazirabad 16, Tando Allahyar 14, Jamshoro 13, Sukkur nine, Kashmore eight and Ghotki seven.
