Popular actor Sheheryar Munawar, who previously tried his hand at production with Parey Hut Love, has now ventured into direction with his upcoming short film Prince Charming.
Starring Mahira Khan and Zahid Ahmed, Prince Charming’s teasers promise a gripping storyline, a setting away from the extravagant and posh neighbourhoods of Pakistan, real characters that seem easier to relate to and a forbidden romance.
Spilling some beans about the narrative, Sheheryar took to his Instagram to post the first clip featuring Mahira with an intriguing caption. “She was promised her Prince Charming. She only wants what was promised – is that too much to ask? A look into the morning of Sheherzade, as she splits her time between her husband, her daughter, and her lover,” wrote Sheheryar.
The teaser sees Mahira dressed down, instead of the quintessential dolled-up looks our film’s leading ladies receive. But her appearance gives her a rather poetic touch, as she walks along a dark corridor, only to be pulled inside a darker room, where she settles in the embrace of an unidentifiable man and says, “Darwaza agar khula milay tou ussey chori nahi kehtay.”
The mood of the film seems to replicate its characters dubious intentions, whereas the score gives it a comedic feel. Another teaser shared by Sheheryar, focuses on both Zahid and Mahira's characters, as they wake up in a rather unpleasant environment. Zahid's not-so-Prince-like charm offers precisely the opposite of what the title of the film promises, leaving viewers confused but curious.
Clearly Sheheryar knows how to grip the attention of audiences and with Mahira on his side, that shouldn't be too difficult anyway.
The actor has shared the first look of this film on his Instagram three days ago. “Sharing the poster of my first narrative (short film) as a director; from penning it to calling action, to working on the post, each step has been magical,” he wrote in the caption.
Giving a huge shout out to Mahira, Sheheryar thanked the superstar for believing in him and agreeing to be a part of his debut directorial. He also thanked Zahid for being a gem to work with. And without forgetting his production crew, Sheheryar added, “Big shout to my wonderful ADs, my brilliant DOP, art team, styling team, sound and music team and colour/post production team... and of course the experienced team at SEEPRIME.”
Sheheryar’s film will be released on Seeprime’s Youtube channel ‘soon’.
