KARAK:

A traffic police constable has been gunned down in Terri, Karak district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), apparently in the name of honour.

Police told The Express Tribune that constable Irshad was on his way to office early in the morning on his bike, when unidentified men opened fire on him, leaving him dead on the spot. Police initially considered it a terrorism incident but later when the matter was investigated, it turned out to be a family dispute.

“Irshad had some time ago divorced his wife who was the mother of his three children and now he wanted to marry one of his in-laws who was already married,” said a police official, adding that Irshad even visited her repeatedly. “His visit to his in law after divorcing his wife greatly enraged his brother in law,” he said.
