Suspect shot dead eight-year-old during a robbery: SSP

The police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested the prime suspect in the killing of an eight-year-old boy during a robbery in Pakhtunabad.

According to the police, Abdul Khalil, the suspect and his accomplices broke into a house in Pakhtunabad and shot dead eight-year-old Salman while injuring a man, identified as Ibrahim. The perpetrators took away with a mobile phone and cash from the house.

The FIR of the incident was registered at Manghopir Police Station on the complaint of the deceased's uncle, Shaukat, under Sections 394, 396 and 397 read with 34 [pertaining to voluntarily causing hurt during a robbery, dacoity with murder and attempt to cause murder or grevious hurt during a robbery by a group of persons] of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The police claimed to have confiscated the weapons used in the robbery as well as ammunition, the stolen mobile phone, cash and an unnumbered motorcycle from the suspect.

According to the West SSP, the mobile - an iPhone - was snatched from Salman's uncle. The motorcycle found in the suspect's possession was stolen from the limits of Orangi Town Police Station and a case pertaining to the theft was lodged there, said the SSP. He added that Khalil is named in another case lodged at Manghopir Police Station and the police are gathering information on other crimes committed by him.

The suspect will be handed over to the investigation police for further probe and the confiscated weapons have been sent for ballistic testing, said the SSP.

The police are conducting raids to arrest Khalil's accomplices.
