Dialogue only way for political settlement of conflicts: FM Qureshi

Pakistan wants peaceful resolution of the Kashmir and Palestine issues as per UNSC resolutions, the FM says

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Monday that Pakistan considered dialogue as the only viable way for a durable political settlement of conflicts.

The foreign minister's remarks came while he was talking to the visiting delegation of the Arab Parliament led by Adel bin Abdul Rahman in Islamabad.

"Pakistan wants peaceful resolution of the Kashmir and Palestine issues as per the relevant UN Security Council resolutions," FM Qureshi said.

He apprised the Arab parliamentary delegation on the gross human rights violations by Indian forces in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the threats being posed to regional peace and stability because of Indian policies.

FM Qureshi further urged the international community to condemn India's illegal unilateral act of August 5, 2019.

"Pakistan desires peace and stability in the Middle East and has a clear stance on the Palestine issue," the FM added.

The top diplomat added that Pakistan's relations with Arab countries were based on common religious, cultural and historical values.

Earlier, FM Qureshi said India wanted to sabotage peace in the region by creating obstacles for measures to bring peace and stability.

Qureshi expressed these views while addressing a ceremony organised by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Sheikh Wajid to honour workers of Multan Waste Management Company.

The top diplomat maintained that promoting peace in the region was Pakistan’s top priority but said that India’s policies presented as a major hurdle in the efforts to pave a way for peace.

He said finding solutions to both the issues of Kashmir and Palestine was a prerequisite for peace across the globe. Prime Minister Imran Khan was highlighting Kashmir, Palestine and other issues of Muslim Ummah at all international forums, he added.
