Ehtesham Mufti, a senior reporter of the Express Tribune, had reached near his residence in a vehicle after performing his duties. That is when an ASI of the Bilal Colony police station stopped the vehicle on a motorcycle. Mufti introduced himself, but the policeman lost his temper and grabbed the journalist by the collar before abusing him.

Later, the police called a mobile unit and took Ehtesham Mufti and the driver to the police station where the ASI and others beat Mufti and the driver on the police station premises.
