A guard of a compound in Quaidabad Gulshan-e-Bunir was hammered to death by unknown assailants.
After being brutually attacked, the guard was severely injured on Wednesday morning. He was rushed to Jinnah Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased was identified as 70-year-old Gul Khan, son of Hajitmand.
The victim was living in Gulshan-e-Bunir's Ehsan Clinic Street.
SHO Quaidabad Ghouse Bakhsh said that the victim was a watchman of the compound located in Gulshan-e-Bunir. Rickshaws and Suzuki pickups are parked in the compound and the victim used to take care of the vehicles.

At the time of the Fajr call to prayer early morning, unidentified assailants entered the compound and severely injured Gul Khan with a hammer and fled the scene.
The injured guard was being transported to the hospital when he died on the way.
The SHO said it would be premature to comment on the nature of the incident immediately.
"Police are investigating various aspects of the incident," he said.
