NCOC chief says aiming to cross one million vaccination mark in a day
ISLAMABAD:
National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) chief Asad Umar said on Wednesday that Pakistan achieved a record Covid-19 vaccination mark with 778,000 jabs administered in a single day.
In a tweet, Umar also stated that a total of 561,000 people were administered the first dose in the Covid-19 inoculation drive.
“New target: to Inshallah cross 1 million vaccinations in a day,” the NCOC chairman added.

Earlier, on July 24, he said that with 102, the rate of Covid-19 deaths per million in Pakistan remained the lowest in the region due to timely decisions of the government.
The minister observed that in Iran some 1,037 people died out of a one million population while in Nepal the number was 326, India 301, Sri Lanka 186, Afghanistan 160, and Bangladesh 113.

However, he warned that the risk was not over yet and people should therefore follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and also have themselves vaccinated against the disease.
Covid update
Pakistan's tally for confirmed coronavirus cases reached 1,015,827 on Tuesday after 4,119 more cases of the deadly virus were recorded from across the country in a day.
At least 44 fatalities were also reported, taking the death toll to 23,133. According to the government's official Covid portal, about 2,898 patients were in a critical condition currently.
As many as 7,020 recoveries were also recorded, taking the tally for recoveries to 935,742.
