Vaccination for PIA cabin crew made mandatory

Crew for international flights will not be allowed to make unnecessary movement in terminal buildings

ISLAMABAD:

The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has made Covid-19 vaccination for its cabin crew mandatory.

A statement issued by the national flag carrier’s flight services department noted that the stewards and air hostesses will be barred from performing their duties without the vaccination certificate. Further, they will not be allowed to visit the duty-free shops to stem the spread of the virus.

The statement said that the cabin crew will be required to produce the National Database and Registration Authority’s (Nadra) certificate after being inoculated. In case of a single dose of the coronavirus jab they will have to show the message from 1166.

The PIA administration further said that the cabin crew of the international flights will not be allowed to make unnecessary movement in the terminal building and in case of violation they will be fined.

The amount of fine will be deducted from their salaries and disciplinary action will be taken against them.
