RAWALPINDI:

All preparations have been made to organise 3,000 gatherings for Eidul Azha prayers on Wednesday (today). The prayers will be held in mosques, eidgahs and imambargahs across the city.

The congregation in the historic Liaquat Bagh Eidgah will be shifted to adjoining schools and nearby mosques in case of rainfall. Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed will also offer Eid prayers there.

The police have formulated a security plan to ensure safety during the three days of Eid. Under this plan, over 9,000 police personnel will be deployed at all prayer sites. The deployment process has also been completed while closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have also been installed at and around Eidgahs and mosques. Emergency cleaning of all congregation sites has also been completed.

Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner (DC) Amir Aqiq has directed the management of all mosques and imambargahs to implement SOPs during prayers. The elderly and children have been asked to offer Eid prayers at home in the wake of a rise in Covid cases. All worshipers coming to offer Eid prayers have been instructed to wear masks from their home and avoid hugging and shaking hands after Eid prayers.

The administration has also asked the organisers of Eid congregations to place hand sanitisers at the entrances of mosques and imambargahs.
