ISLAMABAD:

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday ordered the arrest of culprits involved in raping a differently-abled girl in Okara. The directives came after the girl’s mother registered a complaint on the Pakistan Citizen Portal, run under the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit (PMDU).

The mother, in her complaint, stated that her daughter was assaulted and informed the investigation officer of the incident had demanded a bribe from her to launch a probe into the incident.

The premier took notice of the incident and ordered legal action against the culprits, stressing a transparent investigation into the matter. He further directed to keep the prime minister’s office updated on the investigation.

Following reports of the investigating officer demanding a bribe from the mother, the PMDU asked the Okara District Police Officer (DPO) to take immediate action. As a result of this, the DPO suspended the investigating officer.
