The Rawalpindi Cantonment police on Friday arrested three alleged robbers and recovered Rs10 million from them.
According to the police, the arrested robbers had snatched Rs10 million from jeweller Chaudhry Muhammad Emad near Marir Chowk on July 5 while he was returning to Sarafa bazaar after withdrawing cash from a local bank. After registering the case, two robbers, who were identified as Ali and Habib, were held earlier and Rs7 million had been recovered from their possession.
The police said that the recovered money was handed over to the owner in the presence of other traders.
Earlier in the day, an encounter took place with the fleeing accomplice of the two robbers near the Nogza railway gate. The police said that two alleged robbers were shot and injured by their accomplice while they were being escorted to a location where he was hiding. The third alleged robber had escaped while injuring his accomplice but later police nabbed him as well and recovered the remaining looted sum from him.
Police said that they arrested the robbers with the help of digital technology. Meanwhile, City Police Officer Ahsan Younis has lauded the performance of the police personnel and recommended commendation certificates and cash prizes for them. The Rawalpindi Sarafa Bazaar Association also hailed the police performance in recovering the looted cash.
