Water supply to 7 police stations to be cut

RAWALPINDI:

The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has decided to disconnect the water supply of seven police stations in Rawalpindi for not clearing their dues.

According to WASA sources, seven police stations in the city are defaulters of Rs287,131 collectively and despite repeated reminders, they have not paid arrears. As per details, the Bani police station has to clear Rs81,219 of WASA while its check post has to pay Rs7,574.

The due bill on Sadiqabad police station is Rs27,021 and Rs20, 414 on Pirwudhai police station. Waris Khan police station has arrears worth Rs64,264, Newtown police station has Rs15,108, and City Police Station has Rs71,531.

The agency sources said that they have decided to disconnect water connections of defaulter police stations. Meanwhile, WASA has compiled lists of the city’s provincial and federal agencies whose bills are unpaid for years.

Once the list of such defaulters is compiled, the authority will issue final warning notices to the entities for payment of arrears.

If the dues are still not clear, their water connections will be cut.

WASA Managing Director Raja Shaukat Mehmood said that a zero-tolerance policy is being adopted against defaulters, consumer organisations, or ordinary citizens. Therefore, he added everyone has to clear arrears to avoid disconnection of water supply and legal action.
