Malir Police, guided by an intelligence agency,arrested an alleged terrorist of a subgroup affiliated with banned nationalist party, Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM), during an operation in Bhittaiabad on Tuesday.
According to Malir SSP Irfan Bahadur, the arrested suspect, Ramesh Kumar son of Ram Chand, is the mastermind behind over 38 cracker bombings and grenade explosions in the city from 2010 to 2015.
Kumar has confessed during initial interrogation about involvement in the aforementioned blasts, target killing of citizens, vandalism and setting hundreds of vehicles ablaze during strikes, claimed SSP Bahadur.

He said that Kumar is a highly educated individual as well as an expert in making different types of explosive devices and bombs.
The SSP added that Kumar has also revealed that he received orders for the violent activities from JSMM leader, Shafiq Burfat.
"Burfat is a refugee in Germany, who serves as a facilitator for the intelligence agencies of anti-Pakistan countries to provoke people towards terrorist activities in Sindh and especially in Karachi," said SSP Bahadur, adding that Burfat doesn't only give orders to Kumar but also provided him with the funding for all these activities.
He further stated that deeper investigations were underway and more confessions were expected as the scope of interrogating Kumar was expanded.
The police claim to have confiscated the National Identity Card, mobile phones, ammunition, grenades, wires and various other explosive materials from the possession of Kumar.
