MUZAFFARGARH:

A 60-year-old man was crushed to death while his son was injured allegedly after a police van hit them in the Daira Din Panah area on Monday.

According to police sources, they received information about two robbers escaping on a motorcycle after a robbery.

A police team led by Sub-Inspector Siddique Gujjar started chasing the suspected robbers but its van hit their motorcycle. Resultantly, 60-year-old Sarfraz died on the spot while his son Naeem suffered injuries.

The injured man alleged that his father had a dispute with his neighbours for several years and the police had deliberately killed him at the behest of his rival group.

Taking notice of the incident, District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Hassan Iqbal suspended the driver of the van and Sub-Inspector Gujjar. A case has also been registered against the driver, the police sources added.

A teenaged boy was also crushed to death by the car of Daira Din Panah SHO Aziz Ullah about two months ago.
