Plea seeking FIR against Maryam, Safdar rejected

Petitioner stated in the plea that the PML-N leaders had violated the sanctity of the Mazar-e-Quaid

KARACHI:

A local court rejected on Tuesday the plea seeking the registration of a case against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz and her husband Captain (retd) Mohammad Safdar for allegedly violating the sanctity of Mazar-e-Quaid Mausoleum during a rally.

The East judicial magistrate announced the verdict over Mazar-e- Quaid Management Board's (MQMB) plea during a hearing at the Karachi City Court.

The petitioner had stated in the plea that the PML-N leaders had violated the sanctity of the Mazar-e-Quaid by chanting political slogans and damaged the grill at the mausoleum during their visit to Karachi for the Pakistan Democratic Movement's rally.

Verdict reserved

Separately, the West additional district and sessions judge reserved the verdict over Pakistan Peoples Party Member of National Assembly (MNA) Qadir Khan Mandokhail's plea seeking the registration of a case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Firdous Ashiq Awan for slapping him during a live TV show.

At the outset of the hearing, Saeedabad SHO appeared before the court and submitted a report. Upon the submission of the report, the court reserved the verdict over the plea.

As per the court's remarks, the reserved verdict will be announced on the next hearing on July 8.

Mandokhail has claimed in the plea that Awan beat him with slaps during a talk-show going live on the TV.

The MNA moved the court to order the police to register a case against Awan.
