Convicts killed political opponents celebrating election win

A court on Monday sentenced to death the two brothers involved in a double murder case in Lodhran.

The accused shot dead their political opponents while they were celebrating in front of their house on the day of the general elections in 2018.

Dunyapur Additional District and Sessions Judge Asif Sial, while concluding the hearing of the murder case of Saddar police station, sentenced the brothers Irfan and Shaukat to death and each of their two accomplices to three years imprisonment.

According to the prosecution, the victims, 14-year-old Osama and his 17-year-old brother Afaq Shabbir Ahmed were attacked while celebrating their election victory in front of the house of eh accused in village 293WB on the night of July 25, 2018.

Dunyapur sadder police presented the murder case challan in the court. The proceedings continued for about three years.

Earlier this year in May, police registered a case against 10 suspects on charges of murder and aiding murder after a man and his son were killed over old enmity. Police also launched raids to arrest the nominated suspects.

The bodies of the man and his son who were shot dead by their opponents on Jaranwala Road were handed over to their heirs after postmortem.
