The negotiations between the government team and Jani Khel tribesmen finally proved successful on Sunday after which the protesters agreed to bury the dead body of the slain elder Malik Naseeb Khan and end their protest peacefully.
Government has agreed to release all the missing persons of the Jani Khel tribe or produce them in courts, compensate the protesters for all the losses and ensure that there will be no more target killing or law and order situation in the area.
The tribesmen were protesting since May 31 against the murder and on June 23, they ended their sit-in outside a local police station and started their march on Islamabad. The authorities, however, had deployed heavy police contingents and did not allow the protesters to enter Bannu and then proceed towards Islamabad. For the past six days, as a result, they were camped outside Bannu.

“Government has formed a 60-strong Jirga of Ahmad Zai and Othmanzai Wazirs. Four missing persons of the Jani Khel tribes were also handed over to them. In the past one month all the missing persons will be handed over to Jirga or produced in courts as per the agreement,” said a government official while talking to The Express Tribune.
The government team was led by Provincial Minister for Transport, Shah Muhammad Khan Wazir while the Jani Khel were represented by a 25-member Jirga of tribal elders. Government agreed to pay compensation for the eight vehicles destroyed in clashes with police as well as to the family of tribesman who was killed by police firing.
